Walk for Water 2011

Walk for Water for Africa 2011 was a success!! Over $10,000 raised in spite of the forecast and cloudy skies! A big THANKS to everyone that participated, donated, and helped organize and publicize this event.

The Walk for Water 2011 is a 5K Run/Walk to raise funds on behalf of AFRICARE to build water wells in remote African villages desperately needing water for basic human needs and farming. 5K is the average distance a girl often must walk each day to retrieve water for her family. This event is organized by high school students from Oakton and Madison high schools.

See the wells built with the money we raised last year!

"We never know the worth of water until the well is dry."
